DENVER, March 4 (UPI) -- A weekend avalanche on the west side of Cameron Pass in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado killed one skier and seriously injured another, authorities said.

The skiers, men in their 20s, were caught in the avalanche in an area known as the Paradise Bowl Saturday afternoon, the Denver Post reported.

Kent Minor, the park manager for State Forest State Park near Walden, said rescuers found the two men, one dead, the other unresponsive after being buried in snow for about 90 minutes. The injured skier was airlifted to a hospital.

The death was the fourth caused by an avalanche in Colorado this winter and the fourth in the United States in March, the Colorado Avalanche Information Center reported. The other three fatalities this month were in Wyoming, Utah and New Hampshire.
