Dismissals sought in prostitution case

ALFRED, Maine, March 4 (UPI) -- Lawyers for Mark Strong, one of two key defendants in a Kennebunkport, Maine, prostitution case, sought dismissal of most of the counts against him Monday.

Strong, 57, is charged with 12 counts of promotion of prostitution, which defense attorneys are seeking to dismiss, and one count of conspiracy to promote prostitution. The defense motion noted the charges did not name alleged prostitutes or give information on whom "he is accused of promoting."

Strong's name is on a lease and building permit for the Pura Vida Studio, the former Zumba studio of Alexis Wright, 30. Last week jurors in the trial saw videos of Wright engaging in sex acts for money at the studio and at an office in Kennebunkport. The videos include commentary by a man prosecutors say is Strong, the news website Seacoastonline.com reported.
