Hannity 'worst excuse for a journalist'

WASHINGTON, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison clashed with Sean Hannity on Fox News, objecting to alleged bias shown in portraying President Barack Obama's remarks on the sequester.

After a video of Obama's comments were shown, with ominous background music, on Hannity's program Tuesday, Hannity suggested the Democratic Party was good at staying on message.

"You're pretty good at it, too," responded Ellison, D-Minn. "Quite frankly, you are the worst excuse for a journalist I've ever seen. It's absurd that you – the worst."

After some argument, Ellison continued, "What you just displayed was not journalism, but yellow journalism. It wasn't anything close to trying to tell the American people what's really going on. Every journalistic ethic I have ever heard of was just violated by you."

The interview then devolved into the two men interrupting each other, The Washington Post reported Wednesday.

The segment began with Hannity saying Obama was more concerned with "fear-mongering" than reaching a deal on the sequester issue, and ended with Hannity calling Ellison "a total waste of time," the Washington newspaper The Hill noted.
