FARMINGTON, Mich., Feb. 26 (UPI) -- A Michigan man faces charges in the death of his girlfriend whose remains were found scattered in her Farmington home.

The body of Kaitlin Hehir, 29, was discovered during the weekend after she was reported missing Saturday night, the Detroit Free Press reported Tuesday.

Farmington police said bloody plastic was found in the home, which led to the discovery of her remains. The body had been cut up with a reciprocating saw and pieces left in buckets in the garage and basement.

Her boyfriend told police he had not seen Hehir since Saturday morning when she took him home from work and returned to a party she attended Friday night.

The boyfriend later told police he and Hehir had gotten into an argument, which turned physical.

Hehir was a clerk at the 47th District Court in Farmington.

An autopsy has been completed but a cause of death has not been released.
