PATERSON, N.J., Feb. 25 (UPI) -- A teacher was arrested in New Jersey after allegedly arranging to meet a student out of school and offering $50 for sex.

Thomas Weir, 50, of Monticello, N.Y., allegedly made the offer at a restaurant near where he's taught for 21 years at John F. Kennedy High School in Paterson, N.J. The student told law enforcement about advances Weir allegedly made on Facebook and police were ready when Weir asked the student to meet after school, NJ.com reported Monday.

Weir is charged with attempted sexual assault, luring or enticing a child, official misconduct and attempted endangerment of a child's welfare. If convicted on all counts, he could face 30 years in prison.
