DETROIT, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Jurors in the corruption trial of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, his father and a contractor began a fourth day of deliberations Friday.

About 45 counts involving an alleged conspiracy by the three men to rig city contracts through the mayor's office are being considered, the Detroit Free Press reported.

The jury heard testimony from 90 witnesses during the five-month trial of Kilpatrick, his father, Bernard, and contractor friend Bobby Ferguson.

It wasn't known how many counts the panel of eight women and four men had decided on, but it was known the jury had been bogged down by an issue on one count that charges Kilpatrick and Ferguson with extorting $175,000 from a company involved in a sewer-lining project.

On Wednesday, jurors asked for clarity about an amendment to a contract refererred to in that count.

The question was resolved with a telephone call.

The Kilpatricks and Ferguson each face 20 years in prison if convicted, the report said.
