Fire officials said six people -- two adults and four children -- were pulled from the blaze at the home in Glenarden, but one adult and two children died from their injuries, The Washington Post reported.
The cause of the fire was being investigated.
Also Thursday, fire officials were checking a vacant building in Rockville, Md., where a fire broke out to make sure no one was inside, the Post said. Fire officials said people used the building -- a youth treatment center that closed in 2010 -- as shelter from the elements during the winter months.
The cause of that fire also was under investigation, officials said.
