HOUSTON, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Parents of a pregnant Texas teenager have agreed not to pressure their daughter to have an abortion, the girl's lawyer said.

This, as the girl's boyfriend, Evan Madison, 16, told CNN the couple had never considered bowing to the parents' pressure.

A lawsuit filed in state court by an anti-abortion group Wednesday stated the girl's parents, who are divorced, sought "to make her miserable so that she would give in to the coercion and have the abortion." The teen said her parents held her out of school and forced her to work two jobs as punishment for not getting the abortion.

Anti-abortion lawyers for the Texas Center for Defense of Life said under the Supreme Court's Roe vs. Wade decision is a two-way street.

"Roe was about the right to choose," Stephen Casey of the anti-abortion group told CNN. "This young woman has the right to choose to have her child."

Madison said he and the girl, known in the lawsuit as R.E.K., plan to marry. The legal age for marriage in Texas is 16 with parental consent.
