NEW YORK, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- WCBS-TV, New York, news anchor Rob Morrison was arrested and charged with attempting to strangle his wife at their Connecticut home, the TV station said.

Morrison, 44, of Darien was charged with second-degree strangulation, second-degree threatening and disorderly conduct in the Sunday incident with his wife, CBS MoneyWatch reporter Ashley Morrison.

Police said Ashley Morrison had red marks on her neck but did not require treatment.

Morrison was freed on $100,000 bond Monday and was expected in court Tuesday, NBC News reported.

The Morrisons released a statement saying they were "cooperating fully with the authorities to ensure that all of the information necessary to properly evaluate this unfortunate incident is made available."

"The Morrisons are confident that a full review of this matter will show that the allegations have been greatly exaggerated," the statement said.
