PASADENA, Calif., Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Police in Pasadena, Calif., said they are investigating the discovery of human bones in the back yard of a home.

Pasadena police Lt. Jason Clawson said authorities were checking reports of a possible trespasser near the home when they found a human skull and other bones.

Along with the human remains, police found animal bones, incense and candles set up in what appeared to be a makeshift altar, the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday.

Authorities took the human remains to the Los Angeles County coroner's office for further investigation, the Times said.
