MENTOR, Ohio, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- A Mentor, Ohio, middle school student, 14, threatened to bring a gun to class and parents of 46 students pulled their children out of school, officials said.

Police said they were told of the threat at Ridge Middle School Thursday and interviewed the student, who denied making the threat, and turned him over to school administrators without making an arrest.

The school made a mass telephone call to parents, Friday, telling them of the situation, The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported.

Kristen Kirby, school director of community relations, said there was no suggestion parents should take their children from the school. Officials said they didn't think it was necessary for the 46 students to be removed from the school, which has an enrollment of 509.
