Six Flags sued by disabled Texas man

ARLINGTON, Texas, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- A Texas man suing the Six Flags amusement park in Arlington said he was unfairly barred from a ride he had ridden in the past because he was born without hands.

Clint Bench of Weatherford told KTVT-TV in Dallas/Fort Worth he was no stranger to the Aquaman Splashdown at Six Flags Arlington but was abruptly told during a visit in May he did not have the physical qualifications to go on the ride.

"Went to the (same) park in March and had a good time, rode everything I wanted to ride," said Bench.

Six Flag has declined to respond to the lawsuit; however Bench and his lawyer said they sued under the Americans with Disabilities Act only after attempts to get an apology from the park were unsuccessful.

"One of the things that is the most upsetting to us is that for the first time in his life, especially in his experiences at Six Flags, they call him out in front of his kids and say your father isn't the same as everyone else," said attorney Levi McCathern.
