Arias' defense team plays phone sex call

PHOENIX, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Defense lawyers representing accused Arizona killer Jodi Arias played a 40-minute raunchy phone call between Arias and the victim, Travis Alexander, in court.

ABC News said the defense admitted the recording hoping to show Alexander, Arias' ex-boyfriend, was so obsessed with sex, he turned abusive and controlling, and Arias killed him in self-defense during a violent sexual encounter.

On the recording, played Tuesday, Alexander describes his sexual fantasies to Arias, who responds favorably, ABC News said.

Alexander described a pornographic movie he'd like to shoot with Arias, as well as a number of other fantasies, including tying her to a tree during anal sex.

The 32-year-old defendant said in court later that she didn't want to insult his fantasies so said she liked them.

ABC said the phone call audio comes after three days of Arias testifying about Alexander's increasingly violent behavior toward her in spring 2008 before the June killing.

If Arias is convicted, she could face the death penalty.
