Police: Man killed wife, wounded stepson

HOUSTON, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- A Texas man has been charged with killing his wife by stabbing her more than 100 times and hitting her with a skillet, police say.

Lawrence Clinton Chambers, 40, is also charged with attacking and seriously injuring his 13-year-old stepson, The Houston Chronicle reported Wednesday.

Houston police allege the attacks occurred late Sunday night at the family's home.

Chambers repeatedly stabbed his wife, Jemal Lockridge Chambers, 43, and hit her with a frying pan and other objects, court documents say.

He also beat the boy with a skillet and an unknown object and cut him with a knife, the documents allege.

Jemal Chambers died at the scene. The boy is in serious condition at a Houston hospital.

The attacks were discovered about 11:15 p.m. Sunday when Jemal Chambers' 14-year-old daughter returned home from visiting her grandmother.

Chambers turned himself into police Monday and has been jailed without bond.
