FAIRFAX, Va., Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Charging teenagers with as criminals for mixing "libido, alcohol and video" is disproportionate to the offense, a Virginia lawyer says.

Three teenagers, two 16 and one 15, have been charged in Fairfax County with possession and distribution of child pornography for allegedly recording sex acts, The Washington Post reported. Their lawyers say the sex was consensual, the girls involved knew or learned they were being recorded and the boys traded the video among themselves but did not post it on the Internet or distribute it widely.

"It's an unfortunate mix of teenage libido, alcohol and video. It's nothing more than that," lawyer Rodney Leffler said Tuesday.

Leffler and two other lawyers said wild rumors that have spread since the three teens were arrested Jan. 11 at West Springfield, High School. They said the boys are not involved in any kind of pornography ring and the taping was done in an 11-month period mostly at house parties.

A school official who did not want her name used told the Post the girls were not aware of the taping.
