GRAND JUNCTION, Colo., Feb. 5 (UPI) -- The paternal grandmother of two boys who died of hyperthermia can bury her grandsons, a Mesa County, Colo., court decided.
William Jensen, 2, and Tyler Jensen, 4, who died in November after their mother allegedly left them unattended in an overheated car, will be buried next to their father, Eric Jensen, who died in a separate vehicle accident in October, grandmother Diane Mathena said after Monday's ruling.
Heather Jensen, who had wanted her sons cremated, did not contest the ruling, which came the day of her first appearance in Mesa County Court. She faces two counts of child abuse resulting in death, two counts of criminally negligent homicide and one count of false reporting to authorities, court documents said.
Her sons died after being locked in a car on a rural road for more than an hour, while she allegedly had sex and smoked marijuana in a nearby vehicle,.
Heather Jensen will be formally arraigned Thursday in a Grand Junction courtroom, the day of the boys' funeral, The Denver Post reported Tuesday.
