Alleged peeper seeking insanity plea

BOULDER, Colo., Feb. 5 (UPI) -- The lawyer for a Colorado man accused of hiding in bathrooms to spy on women using the toilet said his client is not guilty by reason of insanity.

Luke Chrisco, the alleged Boulder, Colo., "potty peeper," was charged in 2011 after allegedly hiding inside a portable toilet at a yoga festival. He was caught when a woman saw something moving in the toilet and a feces-covered man emerged and ran away.

The Boulder (Colo.) Daily Camera said Chrisco's lawyer, Matt Connell -- the fourth defense attorney Chrisco has had since his arrest -- said his client was not in his right mind when committing his alleged crimes, nor was he of sound mind when a previous lawyer entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf.

Chrisco is charged with eight counts of felony burglary and two misdemeanors, the paper said. After his arrest, Chrisco described hiding places around town where he would go to spy on women in the bathroom, including at local colleges and a DMV office. Investigators said they found modifications including peepholes and other evidence supporting Chrisco's claims, the newspaper reported.

Connell will have to prove to Judge Thomas Mulvahill there exists good cause to change his client's plea in advance of a trial scheduled for March 11.
