Woman who killed man over beer sentenced

Feb. 4, 2013 at 10:08 AM

CONCH KEY, Fla., Feb. 4 (UPI) -- A Florida Keys woman was sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing a man who refused to give her a beer.

Carolyn Dukeshire, 62, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Thursday for killing her neighbor, Martin Mazur, 69, in front of his Conch Key home July 29, KeysNet.com reported.

A Monroe County Sheriff's Office report said Dukeshire, who is known by friends and family as "Seahag," asked Mazur "Do you have a cold beer for me?" He reportedly replied, "I have absolutely nothing for you."

Dukeshire then shot Mazur five times -- twice in the lower right abdomen, twice in the back and once in the right wrist, investigators said.
