PORTLAND, Ore., Feb. 4 (UPI) -- An openly gay 15-year-old Oregon boy who had been bullied died at a Portland hospital two weeks after hanging himself, officials said.
Jadin Bell, of La Grande, died Sunday at Doernbecher Children's Hospital, The (Portland) Oregonian reported.
Jadin's family decided to take him off life support more than a week ago after tests showed no brain activity.
The boy had been transported to the hospital Jan. 19 after he hanged himself on a play structure at Central Elementary School in La Grande, officials said.
Jadin complained of being bullied about a week before the hanging and had spoken to a counselor at La Grande High School, where he was a sophomore, family friend Bud Hill told The Oregonian
