PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Jurors tried without success Sunday to reach a decision in the racketeering trial of reputed Philadelphia mobster Joseph "Uncle Joe" Ligambi and six others.

The 19th day of deliberations came a day after the jurors had told U.S. District Judge Eduardo Robreno they were at an impasse and revealed they were split on the case.

The panel of eight men and four women spent 6 hours deliberating but offered no clues about their progress in deciding any of the 52 counts against Ligambi and his co-defendants, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. They asked no questions of the judge.

Robreno told the jurors Saturday not to feel pressured into a decision and to keep at it.

Prosecutors contend Ligambi and his associates are guilty of illegal gambling and extortion.

The Inquirer said the 10-week trial included evidence from a FBI investigation over the course of 10 years, and included 15,000 recordings by informants.
