Missing bartender's body found in canal

LAMBERTVILLE, N.J., Jan. 31 (UPI) -- A body pulled from a New Jersey canal Wednesday matches the description of Sarah Majoras, who disappeared after leaving her job at a bar, police said.

Earlier in the day, a fur-trimmed boot found in the Delaware and Raritan Canal in Lambertville was identified by Majoras' family, The (Allentown, Pa.) Morning Call reported.

Majoras, 39, left the bar where she worked in New Hope, Pa., at about 2 a.m. Saturday and was last seen on the bridge across the Delaware River heading to Lambertville. Her boyfriend, Adam Baker, reported her missing Saturday.

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony Kearns said the description of the body matches Majoras, although there had been no positive identification Wednesday. He said New Jersey State Police and other agencies are continuing their investigation.

"At this time, there doesn't appear to be any indication of foul play," he said. "But our mind is not closed to the possibility that it was foul play."

The canal, now a state park, runs 22 miles along the Delaware from Frenchtown to Trenton, where it makes a left turn and runs northeast for almost 40 miles to the Raritan River in central New Jersey.
