KENDALL, Fla., Jan. 29 (UPI) -- A 78-year-old Florida man confessed he became enraged and stabbed his wife to death after she refused to cook him a hamburger, police said.

Police have charged Bartolo Gelsomino with second-degree murder in the death of his wife, Ana Gelsomino, 71, The Miami Herald reported Monday.

Ana Gelsomino's bloodied body was discovered by her daughter Jan. 21 at the couple's Kendall, Fla., home, the newspaper said.

Bartolo Gelsomino confessed he staged a burglary at their home in order to cover up his crime.

Miami-Dade homicide detectives grew suspicious when the couple's son told them his father "had a history of domestic abuse" against him and his mother, a police warrant said.

During questioning, Bartolo Gelsomino confessed to officers and led them to a trash bin at a nearby warehouse area where he had stashed the knife he used and other items from the crime scene, police said.

Bartolo Gelsomino was being held at the Miami-Dade County Jail and will face arraignment Feb. 11 before Circuit Judge Migna Sanchez-Llorens, the Herald reported.
