Arkansas Senate OK with guns in church

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Jan. 29 (UPI) -- A bill to allow concealed guns in churches passed the Arkansas Senate and will head to the state House for a vote.

The Senate passed Bill 71, the Church Protection Act of 2013, by a vote of 28-4 Monday.

If the bill passes in the House and Democratic Gov. Mike Beebe signs it into law, concealed guns will be permitted in participating churches, the (Little Rock) Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported Tuesday.

A spokesman for the governor said Beebe was neutral on the bill and would likely sign it into law.
