Search continues in N.C. for missing woman

CONCORD, N.C., Jan. 28 (UPI) -- More than 100 people Monday searched for a Concord, N.C., woman missing for five months, her sister saying the family wants peace and answers.

Crystal Morrison, 31, the mother of an 8-year-old, was last seen Aug. 23 after she called a friend for a ride home from work. When the friend arrived she was gone, The Charlotte Observer said Monday.

During the weekend the CUE (Community United Effort) Center for Missing Persons, based in Wilmington, N.C., partnered with Concord police to organize the most comprehensive search to date for Morrison.

"Nobody is going to give up looking for her. She's got some dedicated law enforcement that are working very hard on her case," said Monica Caison, founder of the CUE Center.

Witnesses saw Morrison walking down a street Aug. 23. Her bank account and credit cards show no activity, the newspapers said.

Morrison's sister, Mechelle Carey, said that working with a private investigator from the CUE Center has helped her family cope.

"It's something about having someone so focused on your case that just makes you feel less anxious. They've been a godsend for our family," she said.

"Why did she walk out? Why did she leave after she made the phone call? Someone out there knows where she's at and what's going on," said private investigator Kevin Ryan.
