OCALA, Fla., Jan. 28 (UPI) -- A Florida woman allegedly shot and killed a man who jumped onto the hood of her car and held on for nearly 10 miles, police said.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. Saturday in Marion County, a sheriff's department news release said.

Nikki Y. McNeil, 33, was trying to leave a residence in Ocala when Lamark D. Tucker Sr., 36, took both McNeil's car keys and cellphone, the release said. McNeil then used a set of spare keys to leave, but as she pulled away, Tucker jumped onto her car.

Tucker held onto the car for nearly 10 miles before McNeil fired a gun once through the windshield, striking Tucker.

He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

McNeil told police that Tucker was her ex-boyfriend and they share custody of three children. The children were not in the car at the time of incident, police said.
