BETHLEHEM, Pa., Jan. 23 (UPI) -- It wasn't enough that his New York Jets ruined their season with a fumble, but head coach Rex Ryan has ruined his car in a personal driving fumble, police say.

Ryan wrecked his Mustang in a three-car smash-up Jan. 14 when he scooted past a traffic light, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

Ryan became stuck at a traffic light in Bethlehem, Pa., officials said, and tried to go around the cars in front of him.

He entered the intersection on a yellow light, which turned red before the coach could get through, witnesses said.

A vehicle on the cross street hit Ryan's car, pushing him into a third car, police said.

No one was hurt and no charges have been filed.

The incident recalled a Thanksgiving Day play against the New England Patriots by Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez in which he ran into the backside of a Jets player and dropped the ball. The Patriots recovered the ball and went on to win the game, 49-19.

At the time, Sanchez referred to the fumble as "just like a car accident."

The Jets ended the season 6-10.
