PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Attempted aggravated murder charges have been filed against an Oregon policeman following an off-duty incident that involved other officers, police said.

A spokesman for the Washington County sheriff's office said Timothy Patrick Cannon, 46, discharged a firearm at his Forest Grove home prompting 10 law enforcement officers to fire their weapons, The (Portland) Oregonian reported Wednesday.

Police spokesman Sgt. David Thompson did not specify what type of weapon Cannon used or what prompted the shooting incident.

Court records indicate Cannon, a member of the Hillsboro police force, is accused of trying to kill a police officer.

Cannon is being held in the Washington County Jail on $1 million bail, Thompson said
