Real estate agent Mary Kay Beckman decided the man the website chose for her, Wade Ridley, was not an appropriate match after knowing him for eight days. She said Ridley hid in her garage in January 2011, waited for her to come home, and stabbed her 10 times.
He later confessed to police he was in a rage over the relationship that did not work out, and a month later he stabbed and killed an ex-girlfriend in Arizona, KLAS-TV, Las Vegas, reported Monday, adding Ridley later killed himself in prison.
"I do not believe that online dating is a safe venue for men or women," Beckman said.
"It is absolutely not safe," said her attorney, Marc Saggese. "The basis of [Beckman's] lawsuit is the advertising used by Match.com, lulling women and men into a false sense of security."
