Cult killers not getting new hearing

ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 21 (UPI) -- A Florida appellate court ruled that vampire-cult killers Rod Ferrell and Howard Scott Anderson will not get a new sentencing hearing.

Ferrell and Anderson are serving life sentences without parole for the 1996 beating death of a Eustis couple, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported.

The convicts, who belonged to a vampire cult, were juveniles when they were sentenced.

Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that mandatory life-without-parole sentences were unconstitutional for juvenile killers, but an appellate court in Miami ruled that the high-court order does not apply retroactively to people already sentenced.

Then, last week, the 5th District Court of Appeals in Daytona Beach agreed with the other appellate court.
