WASHINGTON, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- U.S. first lady Michelle Obama celebrated her 49th birthday with a new hairstyle, a new Twitter handle -- and dinner at a Washington restaurant.
The first lady's old Twitter name – "Michelle Obama" -- was a campaign account that now is managed by the Democratic National Committee, USA Today reported Friday.
Her new Twitter identification "FLOTUS," developed by the first lady's office, will chronicle some of her activities, the White House said. When she authors a Twitter message, Obama signs it with the initials "mo."
Obama's new hairstyle features bangs, USA Today said.
People magazine approved: "A youthful new hairstyle: a straight, shoulder-skimming cut with bangs."
To celebrate Obama's milestone, she, President Obama and a few friends went to Cafe Milano in Washington's Georgetown district.
The White House did not provide details of the birthday dinner.
