DALLAS, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Retired football player Deion Sanders and his estranged wife Pilar will share custody of their three children, a judge in the contentious divorce case ruled.

The one-page order, issued Thursday by Judge Ray Wheless, also gives Deion Sanders exclusive rights to determine the children's primary residence and choose their educational and athletic activities.

Other parental rights will be shared equally, and custody will be shared with each parent alternating weeks, the ruling said, adding the orders will remain in effect until the final divorce trial, scheduled to begin March 4.

Each parent has sought full custody of the children, ages 9 to 12, The Dallas Morning News reported.
