BOCA RATON, Fla., Jan. 17 (UPI) -- A man from Boca Raton, Fla., was arrested after allegedly being caught on camera torturing his roommate's cat, officials said.

Jordan S. Bean, 25, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of animal cruelty, The Palm Beach Post reported, and released later that day on $3,000 bond.

Bean allegedly was caught on video by his roommate Alanna Jenkins, who said she installed surveillance cameras after becoming suspicious Bean was abusing her cat.

The video shows Bean chasing the cat, Chompers, around and at times wrapping a towel around the animal before violently shaking it and sitting on it.

"Chompers is actively fighting, trying to escape his grips. Her wailing, moaning and hissing continue to get louder and more severe," police probable cause affidavit states. "It is at this time that he jumps on the bed with the cat and starts smothering her underneath him while she is still wrapped in the towel."

Police said Bean admitted that he chases the cat and wraps the cat in a towel. He said he let go of the cat once it started a making different noise, not the usual hissing, wailing and moaning.
