SYRACUSE, N.Y., Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Prosecutors in New York have charged a former Syracuse University media-relations executive with surreptitiously taking videos of athletes in the shower room.

Roger Springfield pleaded innocent Tuesday to four counts of unlawful surveillance for the videos, which Onondaga County prosecutors said included at least 108 Orange athletes taking their post-game showers.

The videos were shot in the locker room of the Carrier Dome and included members of the Syracuse football, lacrosse and soccer teams, the New York Daily News said.

District Attorney William Fitzpatrick said the footage appeared to linger on the team members taking post-game showers, but were not distributed on the Internet.

"He would place (the camera) at a position ... at waist level and use a piece of tape to disguise the red light indicating the camera is on and working," said Fitzpatrick.

Springfield, who was fired last month when the county investigation began, faces 16 years in prison if convicted, the Daily News said.
