ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Florida police say they are trying to determine who stole $400,000 in diamonds from a New Jersey diamond wholesaler as he had dinner at an Orlando restaurant.

Rajesh Jain, from New Jersey, said he was only in the restaurant about 15 minutes Monday night when he came out to find the diamonds had been taken from his rental car in the parking lot, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported Tuesday.

The loose gems were inside three pouches in a bag inside the car, police said.

Nothing else was taken, including a Global Positioning System device attached to the windshield, Jain said.

An Orlando Police spokesman said it was too early to tell if Jain had been targeted or if the theft was a random incident.
