FORT WORTH, Texas, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- Wintry precipitation brought icy conditions to the Dallas/Fort Worth area, canceling air travel and causing road accidents, officials said.

Temperatures Tuesday remained in the low 30s, lightning was observed and one-half inch of snow and sleet had fallen in the area, the Fort Worth weather service office reported.

Some bridges and overpasses were closed because of icy roads, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

Police reported nearly 30 traffic accidents, and an American Airlines official said 343 American and American Eagle flights from Dallas/Fort Worth airport were canceled Tuesday.
