DALLAS, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- Police said a 68-year-old Texas man was for allegedly stabbing to death his neighbor at a Dallas-area assisted living facility.

Joe Silva called 911 moments after he allegedly stabbed Harrell Griesenbeck, telling the dispatcher, "I just stabbed someone in the neck." Police arrived to find a blood-covered vestibule and a trail leading down a hallway where Griesenbeck had collapsed and died, The Dallas Morning News said Tuesday.

Silva allegedly told officers he decided to kill Griesenbeck because he put a flower on his door and was wearing a red hat.

Silva is charged with one count of murder and is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail at Dallas County Jail.
