3 arrests made in LA store takeover

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Three suspected gang members were being held in last week's takeover robbery of a Nordstrom Rack clothing store in Los Angeles, police said Sunday evening.

Police would not provide the names of the suspects or details of their arrest, the Los Angeles Times reported. Prosecutors were to decide whether to file any charges this week, the newspaper said.

A number of hostages were taken in the 11 p.m. Thursday incident at the Promenade at Howard Hughes Center. Police entered the store at 3:30 a.m. Friday and freed the hostages.

At least three of the hostages had been injured, including one woman who was sexually assaulted, another who was stabbed in the neck and a third employee who was pistol-whipped, police said.

Police said it was unclear how long the robbers stayed in the store before fleeing and would not say how much money was taken.
