Murder suspect arrested at bus stop

OCALA, Fla., Jan. 10 (UPI) -- A fugitive suspected of homicide in Orlando, Fla., was arrested at a bus stop in Ocala after two weeks on the run, federal law enforcement officials said.

Bryon Killins, 19, was wanted by Orlando police on charges including first-degree murder in the Dec. 28 slaying of Maximo Carreno Cortes, 33, who was shot and killed in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

The U.S. Marshals Service said in a news release Thursday its Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Killins Wednesday after determining he had been staying with a friend in Ocala and was likely using public transportation to get around. Task force members -- including the U.S. Marshals Service, the Marion County Sheriff's Office, the Alachua County Sheriff's Office and the Gainesville Police Department -- conducted surveillance at several bus stops and eventually spotted Killins and his friend at a bus stop near the Marion County Health Department, the release said.

Another man, Robert Burton, has also been charged with first-degree murder in the case.

The friend who was detained when Killins was arrested has been released, the release said.
