PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Jurors in the trial of alleged Philadelphia mobster Joseph Ligambi and six others asked Wednesday to review some of the tape recordings played at the trial.

The jurors, seven men and five women, began their second day of deliberations in the racketeering trial by requesting to hear four recordings, view two exhibits and have transcripts of all the other recordings they heard during the 10-week trial, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

U.S. District Judge Eduardo Robreno agreed with Ligambi's lawyer, Edwin Jacobs, who objected to the request by arguing the tapes themselves are the evidence. Robreno ordered the attorneys to prepare a list of all the recordings heard at trial to help the jurors identify the ones they want to hear again.

Ligambi, 73, is accused of illegal bookmaking, loan-sharking, extortion and other crimes. His co-defendants include his nephew and reputed consigliere, George Borgesi, and five others who worked with Ligambi.
