MOUNT KISCO, N.Y., Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Douglas Kennedy is suing an upstate New York hospital and several nurses following his acquittal on child endangerment charges last week.
Kennedy was tried and acquitted of charges he endangered his newborn son and physically harassed two nurses who tried to prevent him from taking the infant outside in 60 degree weather.
The Journal-News of White Plains, N.Y., said Kennedy and his wife Molly said the hospital, two nurses and one nurse's husband defamed the couple in media interviews and in statements made to Mount Kisco, N.Y., police. Kennedy said he asked his son Bo's doctor if he could take him outside for a walk and the doctor agreed. When Kennedy tried to leave, two nurses got in his way and a scuffle ensued, police said.
Kennedy's suit, filed Friday in state Supreme Court, claims it was the nurses who were responsible for the altercation. A separate lawsuit filed by the nurses seeks $200,000 from Kennedy in a civil case against him.
Kennedy is the 10th of 11 children born to Bobby and Ethyl Kennedy. He is a reporter for Fox News.
