Dad, four children die in Ky. house fire

HAZARD, Ky., Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Five people --four children and their dad -- were killed early Wednesday in a house fire in eastern Kentucky, officials said.

The fire in the Jonancy community in Pike County began about 2:30 a.m., WYMT-TV, Hazard, Ky., reported.

Four children ages 5, 4, 2 and 6 months, and their father, died in the blaze, said officials with the Pike County Firefighters Association.

A woman believed to be the children's mother was airlifted to a hospital. The extent of her injuries was not immediately reported.
