NEW YORK, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- A 300-foot construction crane toppled in New York City Wednesday afternoon, injuring seven people, three seriously, authorities said.

The accident happened in Queens about 2:30 p.m. when the crane fell into a building under construction while lifting a load, The New York Times reported. Dozens of construction workers were in the vicinity at the time.

The building, one of several luxury towers being developed by TF Cornerstone, is to be a 26-story residential property when completed, the newspaper said.

Cross Country Contracting of Elmsford, N.Y., a concrete subcontractor, was responsible for the work being done, TF Cornerstone spokesman Frank Marino said.
