TORRANCE, Calif., Jan. 8 (UPI) -- After years of conflicting stories, a California man admits killing his wife, but insists it was an accident.
Over 32, Michael Lubhan Clark told authorities a number of conflicting stories about the 1981 disappearance of his wife Carol from their Torrance home. After being convicted of her murder, Clark returned to court Monday and promised to show where he dumped her body, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.
Clark was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison, and explained his actions in a Dec. 14 letter to his wife's mother, which Deputy Assistant District Attorney John Lewin read aloud in court.
Clark pushed his wife during an argument, and she struck her head on a coffee table, Clark's letter read.
Believing she was dead, he hid her in the garage, then sank her body in the Pacific Ocean near Rancho Palos Verde, Calif., with a cinder block as weight, Lewin said. Her body was never recovered.
Prosecutors said they do not believe Clark is telling the full truth yet.
His wife's sister, Terri Meyer Samuelson, said it is unlikely the body will ever be found.
"We found part of the truth today. No we want the other half," she said.
