CHARDON, Ohio, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Trial was postponed Monday of an Ohio teen charged in a shooting at a high school in which three students were killed and three others wounded, officials say.

The trial of T.J. Lane was postponed by Judge David Fuhry at the request of both prosecutors and defense lawyers after both sides said a large amount of information had just been discovered, The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported.

Lane's trial had been set for Jan. 14. He is charged with three counts of aggravated murder, two counts of attempted aggravated murder and one count of felonious assault in the Feb. 27, 2012, shooting at Chardon High School.

Fuhry said he would hold a hearing later this month to set a new trial date.

Police say Lane has admitted firing 10 shots from a .22-caliber semiautomatic handgun. Demetrius Hewlin, 16; Russell King Jr. 17; and Daniel Parmertor, 16, died. Three other students were wounded; one was grazed on the ear by a bullet, while another is undergoing rehabilitation.

If convicted, Lane could face life in prison without parole. His attorneys have entered an insanity plea for him.
