Former NBA star Sprewell arrested

MILWAUKEE, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Former basketball player Latrell Sprewell was arrested for disorderly conduct after Milwaukee police received complaints about loud music, jail records said.

Sprewell, 42, a 13-year National Basketball Association veteran and Milwaukee native, was arrested and booked into jail Monday, police said, adding they received two complaints within one hour Monday, and several complaints in recent months, about loud music coming from a house on the city's east side.

Sprewell's basketball career ended in 2005 and includes an incident of choking his coach, P.J. Carlissimo, in 1997. Since his retirement his home in River Hills, Wis., was foreclosed upon, his 70-foot yacht was seized and auctioned by U.S. marshals, and in 2011 Sprewell made the list of Wisconsin's top "tax deadbeats," owing the state more than $3.5 million in unpaid income taxes, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Wednesday.
