'Cannibal cop' lawyer seeks other names

NEW YORK, Jan. 1 (UPI) -- Lawyers for a New York City police officer accused of plotting to kidnap and eat potential victims have asked prosecutors for names of alleged co-conspirators.

Court documents say federal prosecutors have "hundreds of thousands of email and instant-message communications" in which Gilberto Valle, 28, dubbed the "Cannibal Cop" by the press, discussed "violent sexual fantasies" with about 20 people.

Valle's lawyer want them named, the New York Post reported Tuesday, noting only three have been identified in court papers as Michael Vanhise, "Moody Blues" and "Ali Khan."

Valle is charged with plotting to abduct, rape and cook women for Thanksgiving dinner.

His defense attorney, public defender Julia Gatto, wrote in a court filing he and his correspondents "were engaging in fantasy role play with no intention of acting on their fantasies."
