STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Five snowmobilers stuck in waist-deep snow in a ravine on Colorado's Buffalo Pass overnight were rescued Monday morning, authorities said.

"They did really well for spending the night out there," Routt County Search and Rescue Incident Commander Kristia Check-Hill told Steamboat Today. "I'm sure they were completely exhausted. But they hung in there really well, and they were just happy to see us when we got there."

Check-Hill said the snowmobilers, who ranged in age from 15 to 52 and included a father, two children and two friends, were not injured and had started a fire to stay warm.

Check-Hill told the Steamboat Springs newspaper rescuers made contact with the snowmobilers Sunday night and determined they were in a ravine in the north fork of the Fish Creek drainage.

The search started after a member of the group called a relative in Fort Collins Sunday afternoon to report they were cold, wet and stranded in the vicinity of Summit Lake.
