REDONDO BEACH, Calif., Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Police in Redondo Beach, Calif., said Sunday they had yet to find the man who stabbed two 13-year-olds in a shopping mall without provocation.

City police Sgt. Shawn Freeman told the Los Angeles Times the boy and girl were outside the movie theaters in the South Bay Galleria when they were attacked by an unidentified black man armed with a kitchen knife with a black handle. The stabbings were "completely unprovoked," Freeman said.

The assailant was described as 40-50 years old and tall with a medium build, a beard and mustache. He may have had prescription glasses, and was wearing a camouflage jacket, possibly green and brown, a black T-shirt, jeans and a dark beanie, police said.

The victims had gone to the mall with friends and family, but were alone when attacked. Freeman said no witnesses had come forward by late Sunday, the Times said.
