MIAMI, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- The U.S. Coast Guard said it intercepted 26 Cuban immigrants in the Florida Straits during the Christmas holidays and sent them back to Cuba.

The Coast Guard said Friday it picked up the migrants in three separate instances on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

The Cubans were checked out medically once aboard the Coast Guard vessels and were eventually repatriated to their homeland, CNN said.
