LOS ANGELES, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- A man has been arrested for allegedly setting a homeless woman on fire early Thursday as she slept at a Los Angeles bus stop, police said.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, was reported to have poured accelerant on the woman outside a Walgreens drug store in the Van Nuys section of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Times said Thursday. The man then set the woman ablaze and ran away, witnesses told police.

The woman was listed in critical condition at an area hospital.

The suspect was arrested a short time later. No motive was given for the attack.
